Job summary

Windsor Laurelwood Center for Behavioral Medicine in Willoughby, OH seeks an Activities Therapist to plan, organize, and lead art, music, or recreational therapy across units. The role includes patient assessment, treatment planning, implementation, and thorough documentation to support recovery.

The ideal candidate will hold at least a bachelor’s in Music Therapy or Therapeutic Recreation (or a Master’s in Art Therapy) and be CPR certified, with healthcare experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or related field.
• CPR certification and CPI certification are preferred/licensed.
• Experience in healthcare settings is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead therapeutic recreation and activity-based interventions that support patient treatment goals.
• Complete patient assessments, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure timely recordkeeping.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups using engaging, evidence-based techniques.
• Build therapeutic relationships with patients while upholding patient rights, safety, and well-being.
• Communicate patient progress, concerns, and incidents to the interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and therapeutic environment, including monitoring equipment and supplies.
• Collaborate with staff, patients, and families to support recovery and positive patient outcomes.
• Participate in program development, performance improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and ongoing training.
• Adhere to all facility policies, unit protocols, and regulatory requirements.
