Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a Therapeu­tic Activities Worker at Norristown State Hospital to support patient well-being through structured activities and meaningful programs. You will guide activities that promote social interaction and personal progress within a compassionate, collaborative team.

Responsibilities include assessments, progress documentation, monthly reporting, and team participation.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience providing therapeutic activities for individuals with physical, medical, or cognitive disabilities.
• Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in therapeutic recreation; physical education; vocational rehabilitation; vocational education or counseling; art, music, dance, or occupational therapies; or a related human services field.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments identifying strengths, needs, interests, and abilities for treatment planning.
• Document patient participation and progress in treatment records.
• Prepare and submit monthly reports on activities, attendance, and quality measures.
• Attend treatment team meetings to share professional observations and feedback.
• Assist patients with community readiness activities to apply leisure skills outside the hospital.
• Organize supplies, equipment, and spaces needed for therapeutic programs.
