Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Therapeutic Activities Worker at Norristown State Hospital to deliver structured and individualized activities that support patient well‑being. You will guide programs to foster social interaction and progress toward treatment goals, working on a team that values compassion and collaboration.

Responsibilities include conducting assessments, documenting progress, reporting on activities, and assisting with community readiness exercises.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience providing therapeutic activities for individuals with physical, medical, or cognitive disabilities; or
• A bachelor’s degree with major coursework in therapeutic recreation, physical education, or related human services field; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients to identify strengths, needs, interests and abilities for treatment planning.
• Document patient participation and progress in treatment records.
• Prepare and submit monthly reports on activities, attendance, and quality measures.
• Attend treatment team meetings to share observations and feedback.
• Assist patients with community readiness activities to apply leisure skills outside the hospital.
• Organize supplies, equipment, and spaces for therapeutic programs.
