Primary Responsibilities

  • Construct and alter costumes as directed, ensuring high-quality and timely completion.
  • Take performer measurements using AMDA’s standardized size charts.
  • Operate industrial sewing equipment: single-needle machines, sergers, cover stitch machines, steamers, and irons.
  • Perform complex tailoring and alterations on a variety of garments.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow direction with professionalism and contribute positively to a team environment.
  • Manage multiple costume projects simultaneously.
  • Support production deadlines with flexibility and attention to detail.
  • Lift up to 20 lbs and use ladders/stairs to access storage and supplies.
  • Adapt quickly to shifting priorities and production needs.
  • Report unsafe conditions to Production Management and uphold safety standards.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theatrical Costuming or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a costume shop or theatrical production setting.
  • Skilled in theatrical costume construction and alterations, including fittings and tailoring.
  • Experience in fast-paced environments such as touring shows or summer stock is a plus.
  • Strong time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working both independently and within a team.
  • Proficiency in digital tools such as Google Drive and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs unaided and work at height using ladders.
  • Willingness to travel between campus locations as needed.

Position Information

  • The regular schedule for this role is 15-20 hours per week (Part-Time). This is subject to change based on department needs.
  • The pay range for this position is $25-$27 per hour.
  • This position is subject to a background check upon a conditional offer of employment and a reference check.
