Job summary

San Diego State University’s School of Theatre, Television, and Film seeks a Theatrical Lighting, Projection, and Audio Specialist to support and guide technical production across multiple productions on campus.

The role oversees complex production systems, budgets, and installations, while providing hands-on training and coordination to faculty and students. You will collaborate with directors and technicians to deliver safe, high-quality performances.

Qualifications

• One to two years of experience working for a theater, repertory or stock company in lighting, sound or projection.
• Formal training or coursework in production or related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead for lighting, audio, and projection across multiple productions.
• Provide training and day-to-day guidance to Graduate Assistants and student technicians.
• Coordinate production support activities including budgeting, purchasing, and inventory tracking.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff and students for production planning and execution.
• Maintain current knowledge of production technologies and practices.
