Job summary

San Diego State University’s School of Theatre, Television, and Film seeks a Theatrical Lighting, Projection, and Audio Specialist to oversee lighting, audio, and projection for multiple productions. You will lead complex systems, manage budgets, and provide hands-on training to faculty and students.

The role involves coordinating with faculty and student crews, ensuring safety, and staying current with production technologies. On-campus, full-time, non-exempt with typical weekday hours.

Qualifications

• One to two years of experience working for a theater, repertory or stock company engaged in the applicable production specialty such as lighting, stage or sound/music production.
• Equivalent to three years of experience providing instructional support services in lighting, sound and/or projections for a related unit or discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead lighting, audio, and projection support across multiple productions using advanced production systems and design principles.
• Provide lead work direction, training, and day-to-day guidance to Graduate Assistants and student technicians.
• Coordinate production support activities including budgeting, purchasing, and inventory tracking.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students for production planning, scheduling, and execution.
• Maintain current knowledge of production technologies and participate in professional development.
