Job summary

Moraine Valley Community College’s Fine and Performing Arts Center seeks a Technical Production Assistant to support the Technical Director and team. The role involves preparing FPAC facilities, assisting with academic theater and music performances, and serving as chief carpenter for productions while ensuring shop safety and OSHA compliance.

You will supervise shop crews, build and install scenery, manage load-in/out, and coordinate with theater and music directors to meet production needs

Qualifications

• Possess a background in theater as evidenced by coursework and/or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and assist the setup, operation, and technical requirements for academic music rehearsals, performances, recitals, and juries.
• Supervise and assist academic theater rehearsals, performances, acting finals, and attend theater department production meetings.
• Assist with technical advancements and logistical details for Academic Theater and Music performances.
• Manage, build and assemble scenic elements for each academic theater production; transport, load-in, and strike scenic elements.
• Assist Technical Director as an on-site shop supervisor to ensure safe operating procedures in the scene shop and performance spaces.
