Job summary

CSU Stanislaus is seeking a Theatre Student Assistant to support the Costume Shop and related production areas. Responsibilities include sewing tasks, organizing costume storage, and assisting with box office and theatre office needs.

Ideal candidates are Undergraduate students enrolled in the required units, with cashier, customer service, and sewing experience, flexible for evenings/weekends, and able to multitask in a dynamic theatre environment.

Qualifications

• Undergrad students must be registered in a minimum of six Fall/Spring units.
• Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four Fall/Spring units.

Responsibilities

• Assist in Costume Shop and other production areas as needed.
• Handle sewing tasks to alter/build costumes.
• Maintain and organize costume storage.
• Assist in moving costumes and assist box office as needed.
• Support Theatre Office and Scene Shop with general tasks.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Position Summary
• Temporary hourly-intermittent student assistant position(s) available in Theatre.
• Start Date
• Positionavailable on or after October 1, 2026and ending on or beforeMay 31, 2027. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.
• Job Description/Duties
• Considerable amount of hours will be within Costume Shop but will assist in other production areas like Box Office, Scene Shop, Lighting Lab and technical, and general office work as needed.
  • Utilizing equipment such as a sewing machine to assist on altering/building production costumes.
  • Provide assistance in maintaining and organizing the costume storage.
  • Provide assistance in moving costumes up and downstairs, some lifting required.
  • Additional support as needed for box office cashier for Theatre Department events, provide customer service at Theatre Department events, and provide support to the Theatre Department by assisting in the Theatre Office and Scene Shop.
  • Other duties as assigned.
• Qualifications
• Preferred Qualifications
  • Cashier, technical, sewing, experience, quick to learn new software, multi tasking. Great attitude, reliable, self motivated.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends for plays.
  • It is preferred, but not required, that the incumbent demonstrates machine and hand sewing knowledge.
  • Demonstrates prior cashiering and customer service experience.
  • Demonstrates the ability to quickly learn new software.
  • Demonstrates the ability to multitask; and the capacity to be reliable.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be highly motivated; and maintain a positive attitude.
• Required Qualifications
