Job summary

North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC seeks a Temporary Shop Technician to support the Costume, Scene, or Electrics Shops within University Theatre. The role involves assisting with execution of designs in the respective shops on an as-needed basis.

Duties include sewing, alterations, basic carpentry, painting, lighting setup, and equipment maintenance, with schedule including irregular hours, nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Skills related to the technical execution of theatrical designs including, but not limited to: basic sewing, crafting, and garment construction; or basic carpentry, painting, and structural construction; or operation and installation of theatrical lighting and/or sound equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist Costume Shop with sewing, alterations, repairs, and fittings.
• Assist Scene Shop with basic carpentry, painting, and furniture refinishing.
• Assist Electrics Shop with hanging, focusing, and installation of lighting and sound equipment.
