Job summary

University of Central Arkansas is seeking a Theatre Shop Student Worker (Non-Federal) to assist with building scenery, hanging and focusing lighting, operating lighting and sound consoles, and working in Costume, Paints, and Props shops.

The role requires hands-on experience in theatrical trades, tool usage, and the ability to climb ladders, manage dusty environments, and work evenings or weekends as needed. This student position offers part-time opportunities in the Theatre Program.

Qualifications

• Experience in theatrical set construction, costumes, or props.
• Experience hanging and focusing theatrical lighting fixtures.
• Experience using stationary power tools (table saw, band saw, radial arm saw, drill press).
• Experience using power hand tools (screw guns, circular saw, jig saw or sewing machines).
• Ability to climb ladders and work in environments with dust from lumber and paints/solvents.
• Preferred: enrollment in Stagecraft, design, or costumes.

Responsibilities

• Build scenery and prepare show environments.
• Hang and focus lights, operate lighting console, sound console, and fly system.
• Work in Costume Shop, Paints and Props Shop.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Communicate and coordinate with a diverse staff.
• Possibly evenings and weekends.
