Job description

Theatre Manager (Operating Theatres)
The Princess Grace Hospital
Permanently Full‑Time
37.5 hours per week (Monday‑Friday)
Salary: Competitive with an excellent benefits package.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Theatre Manager to join the Operating Theatres Department at The Princess Grace Hospital, a leading multidisciplinary private hospital in London, currently rated “Good” by the CQC.

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a senior leadership role within a highly advanced theatre environment, working alongside world‑class surgeons and a skilled multidisciplinary team, supported by some of the most innovative surgical technology available today.

The operating theatres at The Princess Grace Hospital offer a vibrant, professional and forward‑thinking environment. With eight state‑of‑the‑art theatres, including a hybrid theatre, a robotic surgery suite and three laminar flow theatres for orthopaedic surgery, the department is at the forefront of modern perioperative care. We currently operate two Da Vinci robotic systems and have already completed over 500 robotic procedures, reflecting both the scale and complexity of the service.

Our theatre teams are highly experienced and work across a wide range of complex surgical specialities, orthopaedics, urology, general surgery, colorectal, thoracic, gynaecology, breast (including reconstructive and microsurgery) and spinal surgery. The calibre of practice, clinical expertise and collaborative culture make this an exceptional environment for a Theatre Manager looking for their next challenge.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will provide strong clinical and operational leadership across the theatre department, promoting a culture where patient safety, quality of care and exceptional patient experience sit at the heart of everything we do. Working closely with the Surgical Services Manager, you will lead the department day‑to‑day while also contributing to its longer‑term strategic development. You will be responsible for guiding, supporting and developing a highly competent team, ensuring staff deployment, support and delivery of outstanding perioperative care. You’ll play a key role in managing theatre lists and workforce planning, and hold responsibility for budgets, resources, clinical governance, CQC compliance and the continued development of services.

Qualifications
  • A recognised professional qualification and current registration with the NMC or HCPC
  • Proven experience in a theatre leadership role, such as Theatre Manager, Deputy Theatre Manager or senior perioperative leadership position
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to motivate, engage and develop teams
  • Experience working within a complex perioperative setting, with a strong understanding of patient safety, quality and clinical governance
  • The ability to set, implement and evaluate evidence‑based standards of practice
  • Confidence in managing change, service development and improvement initiatives
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, delegate and respond effectively to an evolving clinical environment
  • A high level of IT competence and confidence working with digital systems and performance data

  • Critical illness cover
  • Enhanced Maternity and Paternity pay
