Job summary

Georgia Tech in Atlanta is seeking a Part-Time Technical Theatre Technician to lead and supervise lab classes and all technical aspects of productions inside and outside class hours. You will maintain work areas and equipment with the Technical Services Committee, ensuring safety and professional standards.

You will mentor student designers and crews, support stage operations, and advise DramaTech leadership on best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Technical Theatre or Production Management or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four to five years of job related experience

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all technical aspects of productions.
  • Lead, with student designers and crew chiefs, lab classes in scenic construction and painting, lighting, sound, and costume construction.
  • Assist students with all technical aspects of productions outside of lab class hours.
  • Assist in the maintenance of all work areas and equipment under the purview of the Technical Services Committee.
  • Advise DramaTech leadership in industry standard practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Summary

Lead and supervise lab classes and all technical aspects of productions within and outside of lab class hours. Maintain all work areas and equipment with the aid of the Technical Services Committee. This position will interact on a regular basis with: unit staff and students, vendors, campus units, and external partners. This position typically will advise and counsel: unit management. SKILLS

This job requires independent, on-the-spot decision making to provide business continuity and safety of students, staff, guest artists and the general public.

Experience working with and teaching non-theatre major, college-aged students at varying levels of experience

  • * Computer skills to include Windows and Mac-based systems, including computer-aided design software
  • * Working knowledge of Vectorworks CAD software
  • * Working knowledge of:
  • o ETC lighting systems and equipment
  • o Digico and Dante sound systems
  • o video projection software and hardware
  • o general carpentry
  • o sewing
  • o rigging
  • o hydraulic lifts

Certifications or licenses required for this job: First Aid certified (training available through GT)
