The Parlour Restaurant Host - IC New York Barclay

Hotel: New York Barclay (NYCHA), 111 East 48th St, 10017

The Parlour Bar & Restaurant Host will be the first point of contact for guests entering our restaurant. This role is responsible for greeting and seating guests, managing reservations, and ensuring a smooth flow of guests to enhance their dining experience. A key part of this role involves providing top-tier customer service while maintaining an organized and efficient seating arrangement in the restaurant.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet guests as they enter the restaurant, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere, ensure to use guest name, emphasize Loyalty Recognition – driving guest experience.
  • Manage guest reservations and coordinate the seating of guests based on availability.
  • Answer phone calls, take reservations, and assist guests with inquiries.
  • Maintaining accurate guest profiles in Open Table
  • Maintain an organized waiting list and inform guests of wait times, if applicable.
  • Escort guests to their table and present menus, ensuring they are comfortable.
  • Monitor the flow of the dining room, coordinating with servers and management to optimize guest seating.
  • Provide accurate information about the restaurant’s menu and specials.
  • Assist with special guest requests, ensuring they are handled with care and attention.
  • Handle guest concerns or complaints with professionalism and resolve issues promptly or escalate to management when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and organized front desk area.
  • Ensuring the consistency of the atmosphere in the restaurant (lighting, sound, furniture)
  • Work closely with other restaurant team members (servers, kitchen staff, etc.) to ensure efficient and high-quality service.
  • Printing menus
  • Follow all health and safety protocols, including food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Monitoring the property guest service request platform and communicating request to management or appropriate team members.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up and breaking down the restaurant host station.
  • Assist with additional administrative and operational tasks to ensure the drive in Guest Love score

Qualifications and Requirements:

Basic reading, writing and math skills and 6 months cash handling experience or food service experience.

This job requires ability to perform the following:

  • Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds (plates, utensils, menus, etc.)
  • Handling food objects, products and utensils
  • Using a keyboard

Other:

  • Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with guests, wait staff, cooks, and supervisor.
  • Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency.
  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when taking orders, completing paperwork, etc.
  • Basic math skills are frequently used when handling cash and credit, quantities, and variances.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

The salary range for this role is $16.50-27.40 USD hourly. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City, NY. This is the lowest to highest pay scale we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
