The Outreach Team is hiring a Canvass Field Director to manage offices in Springfield and Lee’s Summit, MO. The role recruits, trains, and oversees a team of canvassers, leading by example in the field and driving campaign goals.

You will work with the Organizing department to scale a new office, manage staff, and report progress to the Lead Director. Local candidates are preferred.

Canvass Field Director

The Outreach Team is a premier national field firm. We are hiring Field Directors to manage our office in Springfield and Lee’s Summit, MO. The Field Director will recruit, train, and manage a team of local canvassers to contact Springfield residents at the door. They will work within the director team to build an office to scale from the ground up. The Field Director is expected to train canvassers in the field while canvassing themselves to lead by example; they must also communicate long and short-term goals to staff and manage campaign reporting. The Field Director manages canvassers and Team Leads and reports to the Lead Director.

Additionally, the Lead Campaign Director will manage a team of one or more Deputy Directors and will be responsible for building an office to scale from the ground up. The Lead Director position reports to the Project Director, and the Deputy Director position reports to the Lead Director.

• Springfield and Lee’s Summit, MO

Canvass Management Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of 40–60 hourly staff who will canvass door to door to talk to community members about local clean energy storage projects and build community support for a reliable, affordable energy future
• Canvass yourself several days a week to train staff and drive office goals
• Set goals and hold staff accountable to them
• Train and provide ongoing motivation and support to staff
• Identify, promote, and train a leadership team
• Build a diverse team where staff feel respected while fostering a culture of equity and justice
• Implement quality control measures to ensure the integrity of the work
• Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all staff
• Develop strategic plans to reach targeted constituents in assigned locations
• Manage administrative duties, including reporting data, record keeping, processing payroll, and distribution of materials

Nice to Have:

• Experience running paid canvasses or managing paid employees
• Familiarity with VAN and MiniVAN
• Experience working in underserved or marginalized communities
• Facilitation experience
• Local knowledge/experience

Salary:

The salary range for this position is $1,146 - $1,500 per week. We offer a generous benefits package, including paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance, and hands-on training. At the end of the campaign, there may be opportunities for advancement and bonuses.
