Job description

The National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), the professional society for athletic trainers, is seeking an exceptional leader to drive the organization forward as its Executive Director. Reporting to the NATA President and Board of Directors, this dynamic individual will spearhead strategic initiatives and oversee the NATA staff with a keen focus on innovation.

NATA, the exclusive membership body for athletic trainers and their advocates, has steadily grown its global community since its establishment in 1950. By uniting under NATA's banner, these professionals harness their collective strength to achieve remarkable breakthroughs that transcend individual capabilities, making this an exhilarating opportunity to shape the future of athletic training.

NATA’s new leader will be a strong communicator who will focus on diversifying revenue streams and creating connections between NATA members, as well as with other key external strategic partners, like healthcare entities, physicians’ groups, NCAA, among others. As a team leader, the Executive Director will foster growth, change and nimbleness as well as a work environment that fosters innovation and trust.

NATA is looking for a Carrolton, TX based candidate or a remote Executive Director. This position will require up to 25% travel nationally on behalf of NATA.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • CAE (Certified Association Executive) certification or Masters preferred
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in senior management, preferably in an association environment
  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles for nonprofit organizations
  • Proven success working with a board of directors
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with innovative approach to business planning
  • Proficient knowledge of legislation applicable to nonprofit organizations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking
  • Strong management and supervisory skills and experience
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of constituents and cultures
  • Well-developed emotional intelligence skills and servant leader approach
