The Department of Physics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign seeks highly qualified candidates to fill a full-time tenured or tenure-track position at any rank. Exceptional applicants in all areas of biological physics will be considered; experimental candidates are preferred. We are seeking faculty who can teach in biological physics and other areas while contributing to the diversity and excellence in our programs and courses through their research, teaching, and service. Our faculty and students are affiliated with and have access to world-class campus multidisciplinary research centers and laboratories, including: the National Science Foundation Science and Technology Center for Quantitative Cell Biology (NSF STC-QCB), the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology, the Materials Research Laboratory, the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, the Coordinated Science Laboratory, and the Holonyak Micro & Nanotechnology Lab.

A doctoral degree in Physics or a related field is required at the start date, and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The budgeted salary range for the position is $110,000 to $129,000 at the Assistant professor level, $130,000 to $144,000 at the Associate Professor level and $145,000 to $170,000 at the Full Professor level, on a 9-month service basis. Full consideration will be given to applications received by March 6, 2025. Applicants may be interviewed before the closing date; however, no hiring decision will be made until after that date. A start date is expected in the fall of 2025; however, this is negotiable.
