WRTV, the ABC affiliate in Indianapolis, IN, owned by The E.W. Scripps Company, is seeking a Digital Executive Producer.

The Digital Executive Producer will be responsible for planning, assigning, and prioritizing daily digital content and breaking news coverage. This role requires a hands-on strategic and creative approach to oversee and create content optimized for multiple platforms, aligning with a strong content strategy.

The position also involves overseeing digital content producers, participating in daily editorial meetings, and leading digital news coverage discussions with journalists. A strong understanding of social media, sourcing, and developing enterprising story ideas is essential. Apply today to join a supportive newsroom!

WHAT YOU'LL DO :
  1. Collaborate with digital content producers and developers.
  2. Coordinate daily news operations across websites and digital platforms with news management.
  3. Monitor web analytics to evaluate user experience, engagement, and site performance daily.
  4. Adjust tactics to grow web page views and unique visitors based on analytics insights.
  5. Create site content that enhances user experience, paying attention to live web metrics and best practices.
  6. Enhance news content with external links, maps, and slideshows.
  7. Develop processes for migrating multimedia content to new platforms, including video, audio, photos, and graphics.
  8. Plan online coverage for major news events, breaking news, and severe weather to ensure quality and community engagement.
  9. Supervise special sections and site features to increase coverage and user engagement.
  10. Manage user-generated content with editorial guidance from the Director, Digital, or News Director.
  11. Oversee content plans for niche and microsites and other business-related sites.
  12. Collaborate with other departments, including sales and marketing, on website and station initiatives.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED :
  • BS / BA in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Generally 8+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Prior managerial experience is a plus.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING :
  • Strong journalism and writing skills, including proficiency in AP style, and an understanding of current events.
  • Knowledge of basic journalism legal principles.
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced newsroom environment.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Experience with online content management systems.
  • Ability to analyze online metrics and analytics.
  • Basic web design skills.
