A leading university medical center in New York seeks a part-time Surgical Technologist. The successful candidate will assist in surgeries, maintain sterile techniques, and support operational needs in a dynamic surgical environment. Ideal applicants will have a valid LPN license or be eligible for surgical technology certification, along with experience in acute care settings.
Job Summary: Describes anatomy/steps for surgeries; uses sterile technique; assists surgical team with procedures; collaborates with other OR team members; transports patients; demonstrates knowledge of normal growth and development in the delivery of care; facilitates open communication with all team members; initiates and supports teaching and mentoring processes; maintains a safe work environment; resolves problems on a one-to-one basis; takes an active role in professional development. Participates in the development and implementation of educational programs for the surgical technologist program. Demonstrates the ability to perform surgical technology skills for all general and specialty cases, preferred.
Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a license and current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State OR must be eligible for certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists through completion of a formal certificate or degree program in Surgical Technology, or by meeting the experience requirements and having one year of experience as a Surgical Technologist or comparable position in an acute care setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Work Days: Part-time (0.5 FTE), days/evenings/nights based on operational needs. Weekends and holiday rotations as required by bargaining agreements. Call required.
Salary Range/Pay Rate: SG 12
