The Role

We are looking for a talented and passionate Textile Designer to join our growing Design team. This role is ideal for a highly creative designer with a strong eye for print, pattern, color, composition, embellishment, and surface design - and an understanding of how to translate creative inspiration into commercially relevant artwork and techniques.

The Textile Designer will work closely with our Swimwear Designers and broader creative team throughout the entire design process, helping establish seasonal print, color, artwork, and embellishment direction and bringing original concepts to life across our collections.

We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable generating fresh ideas and executing them - a designer who loves researching trends, creating original artwork, exploring innovative surface techniques and embellishments, and collaborating with others to build cohesive, beautifully merchandised collections.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct ongoing market and trend research across print, pattern, color, artwork, embellishment, surface design, and emerging fashion trends.
• Identify incoming and outgoing print, color, and embellishment trends and translate those insights into relevant concepts for our specific customer and retail partners.
• Create original artwork and prints across a variety of aesthetics and techniques, including florals, conversational prints, geometrics, stripes, animal patterns, textures, and other seasonal concepts.
• Develop artwork through a combination of hand-drawn, painted, digital, and other creative techniques as appropriate.
• Research, concept, and develop innovative embellishment and surface-design techniques, including beading, embroidery, heat-seal applications, appliqué, dimensional details, specialty trims, and other decorative techniques.
• Create detailed artwork, layouts, placements, CADs, and specifications that clearly communicate embellishment intent, scale, placement, color, and execution.
• Explore new materials, techniques, and applications that can elevate the product while remaining appropriate for the customer, garment, and target cost.
• Create production-ready repeat patterns, engineered layouts, placements, borders, and other textile applications.
• Develop thoughtful and compelling colorways that support the overall seasonal palette and assortment strategy.
• Partner closely with Swimwear Designers to ensure prints, artwork, and embellishments complement silhouettes, fabrics, design details, and the overall creative vision of each collection.
• Collaborate with the Design team on seasonal concepts, trend direction, color stories, big ideas, and new product opportunities.
• Participate in the creation of trend presentations, mood boards, color palettes, print and embellishment direction, and seasonal storytelling.
• Work collaboratively with Design and Product Development to ensure artwork and embellishment techniques are executable, cost appropriate, and translate successfully to the intended fabric and product.
• Prepare clean, accurate, and production-ready artwork files and communicate all necessary artwork and embellishment specifications to cross-functional partners.
• Review strike-offs, lab dips, embellishment samples, and production samples, providing clear comments and color or execution corrections to achieve the desired creative intent.
• Maintain organized print libraries, artwork files, color standards, embellishment references, and seasonal development tools.
• Understand and take ownership of all calendar deadlines, artwork handoffs, revisions, and final deliverables.
• Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Communicate clearly, proactively, and collaboratively with Design leadership and cross-functional partners throughout the development process.
• Stay curious and continuously explore new creative tools, techniques, technologies, materials, and sources of inspiration that can elevate our product and design process.

What We're Looking For

• Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional print, pattern, color, textile, and surface-design capabilities.
• Experience developing embellishments and specialty techniques such as beading, embroidery, heat seals, appliqué, dimensional applications, and decorative trims.
• Strong understanding of fashion, swimwear, current trends, and the commercial marketplace.
• Excellent sense of color, scale, composition, print placement, and embellishment placement.
• Ability to create original artwork as well as manipulate and develop existing artwork into fresh, relevant designs.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Strong understanding of repeat patterns, color separations, print techniques, embellishment applications, and production-ready artwork.
• Hand-drawing and/or painting skills are highly valued.
• A creative point of view balanced with strong commercial sensibility.
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
