Job summary

Talent Edge Recruiting is seeking an onsite Materials Specialist for a specialized textile manufacturer in Alabama. You will join purchasing, materials, inventory, quality, and manufacturing, learning the full value chain from raw materials to finished fabric on the plant floor.

This hands-on role emphasizes collaboration with the plant team, handling supplier relationships, and coordinating material flow for government-contract work.

Qualifications

• Textile background or experience in textiles, fabric, yarn.
• Experience with fabric, yarn, and specification coding.
• Quality control experience in manufacturing.
• Hands-on manufacturing environment comfort.
• U.S. citizenship due to government contract work.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to understand how different manufacturing processes affect others.
• Practical problem solver with common sense.
• Self-directed and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Order yarn, raw materials, and other production materials.
• Audit and verify incoming orders and materials.
• Coordinate shipping and receiving activities.
• Maintain inventory control and perform inventory counts.
• Manage intercompany fabric transfers between U.S. and Canadian operations.
• Coordinate fabric transfers to subcontractors supporting government work.
• Enter costing information and maintain accurate records.
• Assist with month-end closeout activities.
• Develop an understanding of fabric construction, yarn specifications, quality requirements, and end-use applications.
• Work directly with the plant team to understand the complete manufacturing process.
• Support customer-related questions by developing a strong understanding of the company's products and specifications.
