Fort Worth Zoo

Work Schedule: Saturday and Sunday 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Summary: Assist education coordinators with all aspects of educational programming.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with setting up activities, conduct trades with TNT traders, engage the public in zoo and nature education.
  2. Report to work on time, each day of scheduled shift.
  3. Use time and resources effectively to accomplish program goals.
  4. Maintain effective business relations with those encountered in the course of work.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must be available to work weekends.
  • Excellent oral presentation, organization, written, and word processing skills.
  • Ability to solve problems efficiently.
  • Strong diplomatic and customer service skills.
  • Ability to function in a multi-task environment, independently and in a team.
  • Operate basic office equipment.
  • Valid driver license with acceptable motor vehicle record to maintain zoo standards of insurability.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Experience working with children of various ages in various settings.
  • Bachelor's degree in education, biology, zoology, and/or natural sciences preferred.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • Team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work irregular hours (holidays and weekends).
  • Ability to work at special events and functions as required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, and inclement weather.
