Job summary

Ohkay Owingeh Department of Education seeks a Tewa Coordinator to support the Executive Director in implementing Tewa language and culture programs. The role involves program reporting, grant writing, and participation in school/board meetings, with strict confidentiality for students and staff.

The coordinator will develop lesson plans, assist online classes via Zoom, and help secure licensure for Tewa teachers, while coordinating with education partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field is required.
• One-year experience is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials for Tewa Program instruction.
• Assist online Tewa Classes (Zoom) and admit participants into the class.
• Coordinate with current Tewa Teachers to identify Tribal Members to serve as Tewa Teachers.
• Assist with licensure through the New Mexico Public Education Department for Tewa Teachers (520 NA Licensure).
• Assist with Program Reporting for all State and Federal funding sources and required quarterly/annual reports.
