The Program Assistant and Medic is the leader of a variety of core systems at Teva for ensuring the health and safety of all participants, including monitoring allergies, responding to medical emergencies, supporting students with everyday illness and injury, maintaining medical records, and managing first aid inventory.

As a member of the Teva Administrative team, the Program Assistant and Medic will also work closely with the Director and Assistant Director to create a thriving “base‑camp,” supporting Teva’s mission with materials inventory and organization, space set‑up and take‑down, and other programmatic logistics.

The Program Assistant reports to the Teva Director and is a core member of the Teva leadership team. This is a seasonal position based at the Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center in Falls Village, CT that runs from August 20‑November 20, 2025. • Be on site and available for response during all hours that students are on site.
  • Carry the emergency phone at all hours during the Teva program, including keeping the phone on at night.
  • Be responsive via walkie‑talkie and phone during daytime program hours with Teva Staff and School Chaperones.

  • Attend weekly leadership meetings as a core member of the Teva administrative team.
  • Partner with Assistant Director to ensure all safety plans and emergency procedures are up‑to‑date, and support the Teva Director in maintaining best practice and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Other tasks/duties as assigned, especially as related to Teva “base‑camp” needs.
Qualifications
  • Must be certified as an EMT or RN or be certified as a WFR with significant field experience.
  • Must be able to hike up to 1.5 miles on uneven and/or steep terrain.
  • Experience in food allergy safety, monitoring and medical response.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for working with children and schools, with ability to maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills: must be able to work as part of a close‑knit, interdependent team.
  • Excellent executive functioning, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and find solutions.
  • Ability to stay cool in a crisis and adapt to changing situations.
  • Find joy working in an immersive, highly‑collaborative, outdoor education setting.
  • Skill in photography or graphic design is a plus.
