Job description

C.S. Davidson, Inc. is a team of employee-owners committed to engineering a better community. As we grow our materials testing laboratory, we are looking to add a driven and knowledgeable Testing Department Manager to our ranks.

The Testing Department Manager will oversee a small team of construction materials testing technicians. This position requires PE licensure in Pennsylvania and knowledge of materials testing, including asphalt, concrete, and soils. The ideal candidate will be relationally focused, ensuring employee retention and building longstanding client partnerships.

What You’ll Do as the Testing Department Manager
  • Drive business development for the laboratory, including securing new clients and projects. Maintain good relationships with current clients and seek to understand how we can better serve them.
  • Manage the Testing Department staff, including overseeing training, adherence to safety protocols, and assisting with scheduling for the team.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Quality System Manual and maintain laboratory safety procedures.
  • Provide insight into department finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning for equipment and upgrades when requested.
  • Provide support to our structural team members as requested.
  • Support schedule coverage in the field as needed.
Job Requirements as the Testing Department Manager
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • PE Licensure in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum five years of experience in soils testing and laboratory management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Demonstrated personnel management skills, leadership qualities, and effective mentoring capabilities.
