Job summary

Utah State University in Logan, UT is seeking a Testing Assistant to support the Professional Testing Center operations for admissions and licensure exams. You will assist with scheduling, security, and proctoring, under the supervision of the Testing Supervisor.

This role involves training to proctor with various test companies, handling test registrations, and maintaining records, with an hourly, non-benefited, part-time schedule. Excellent communication and computer skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Testing Supervisor in many aspects of testing programs and office management.
  • Coordinate calendars of multiple computer-based test programs, including opening calendars in advance and guarding against over-booking and test-type conflicts.
  • Train and certify by examination for multiple professional test programs which have this as a requirement (ETS, Prometric, PAN, etc.), and re-certify annually in each.
  • Proctor and continuously monitor active test sessions and guard against examinee misconduct.
  • Ensure test security before, during, and after all exam administrations.
  • Assist in the management of test registration and payment program, RegisterBlast, and help to keep testing and historical records correct and current, including annual volume reporting.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating Professional Testing Center website.
  • Interact and communicate frequently with test candidates, test companies and vendors, and campus and high school communities by phone, email, chat, and in person.
  • Be aware of all FERPA, privacy, and test company confidentiality laws and guidelines, and abide by them at all times.
  • Help with various office task such as deposits, purchasing and maintaining supplies, cleaning, copying, scanning, etc.

Overview

Working under the direction of the Testing Supervisor, Testing Assistants will help in many aspects of the Professional Testing Center, for undergraduate and graduate admissions testing, professional school admissions testing, and many licensure and certification exams. Assist with computer-based testing in the planning, calendaring, security, administration, and scoring of multiple programs. Will train, certify, and re-certify annually for endorsement to proctor with various test companies. May help with outreach both on and off-campus to determine potential professional testing needs and expand test offerings for USU students, future students, and the public. Will assist with various other office tasks as required.

  • Two years of directly related experience in testing, teaching, counseling, etc., or an associate's degree in a related field
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures
  • Experience with university systems (Banner, Canvas, Service Now, etc.)
  • Direct experience in another professional or higher education testing center
  • Skill with computers in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and networking
