Job description

Job Description

The Tester is responsible for carrying out functional test on advance electrical systems and equipment to detect faulty wiring and ensure product compliance with codes and standards in a work cell or area. The Tester will ensure safety is adhered to by complying with all PPE and electrical handling guidelines, as identified in the JHA for all level 1 and 2 test cells. The Tester will demonstrate proficiency in using wire diagrams, Manufacturing Tracking System (MTS), On Floor Sheets (OFS), and hand tools required when required. The Tester will demonstrate ability to interact with Quality by driving continuous improvement through active product resolution by using turnbacks and coaching associates on assembly defects or supplier failures. The Tester will participate in daily toolbox meetings and ensure shop floor management elements such as Tier 1, QCPC, 5S, Material Review Board (MRB) and other job duties assigned.

Shift Details

Shift: 1st Shift Hours: 6:00AM-4:30PM (Mon-Fri & additional days as needed)

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform functional tests on components to ensure components will operate correctly and have been assembled according to work instruction, schematics, change sheets, or wire diagrams.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting on various assemblies when functional tests produce a fail result.
  • Identify and resolve the underlying issue where possible.
  • Perform similar functional test in at least 3 lines utilizing the DAL test fixture and perform Hipot and Continuity test
  • Utilize Shop floor management system to drive KPC/TPM, Tier 1, 5S, and cross-training principles to promote continuous improvement
  • Participates in training associates on product and functional test requirements.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned by Supervisor, such as Test harness inspections or repairs.
Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of electrical components and advanced problem-solving skills, using computer systems and documents to ensure product compliance. Solid communication skills to drive improvement in defect prevention and flexibility to foster learning all products and test cell configurations. Ability to train others in product and carrying out functional test to drive cross-training and knowledge transfer. Advanced ability to read Wire Diagrams, Schematics, and proper use of electrical tools (OHM meter).

Education
  • Minimum Education: HS Diploma or GED
  • Preferred Education: Associate degree in Electrical or Electronic curriculum
Experience
  • Minimum Experience: 1- 2 years in production assembly
  • Preferred Experience: +2 years in Product testing, using electrical hand equipment
Critical Skills/Knowledge
  • Comply with all EH&S policies and regulations, including wearing proper PPE
  • Comply with Key Product Characteristic (KPC) requirements as specified
  • Understand implications and impact of Manufacturing Tracking System (MTS) production schedule
  • Understand tool life and be able to notify maintenance as necessary for tool repair or replacement
  • Ensure that work area remains clean and free of debris, and promote continuous improvement by utilizing the 5S principles
  • Attend Continuous Improvement (CI) Superday Training within the first year
Physical Demand
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand up to 10 hours a day

  • Must be able to wear/use the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Mental requirements include, but are not limited to, the ability to concentrate, take initiative, and to cope with stress, and repetitive tasks and be able to self-inspect and take responsibility for quality of own work.
