We are seeking an experienced Tester to support comprehensive testing activities across multiple applications, business areas, and project workstreams. This role is responsible for test planning, scenario development, test execution, defect management, test data coordination, and reporting throughout the testing lifecycle. The ideal candidate has strong hands‑on manual testing experience, understands testing methodologies and best practices, and can translate business and functional requirements into effective test scenarios. This position requires strong analytical, problem‑solving, organizational, and communication skills, along with the ability to work independently with technical, functional, and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project scope and identify impacts to applications, systems, and business areas.
- Understand and follow the established project test strategy, including testing scope, execution schedules, dependencies, and deliverables.
- Identify and communicate testing risks, issues, dependencies, and potential impacts within assigned work areas.
- Participate in project‑specific testing activities throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Test Leads to define appropriate test scenarios based on project requirements and scope.
- Develop test objectives to ensure appropriate functional coverage and validation.
- Participate in knowledge transfer sessions and cross‑team reviews to validate testing objectives and requirements.
- Create detailed test scenarios and test cases, including execution steps and expected results, and maintain them within test management tools.
- Establish and maintain bi‑directional traceability between business requirements and associated test cases.
- Identify, prepare, and coordinate test data required to support successful test execution.
- Validate test environment readiness prior to project testing activities.
- Execute manual test cases, document results, and identify discrepancies between actual and expected system behavior.
- Create and manage defects for failed test scenarios in accordance with established standards and testing best practices.
- Maintain appropriate traceability between defects and corresponding test cases and requirements.
- Monitor testing progress, consolidate execution results, and provide status reporting to Test Leads and project leadership.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and explain tested functionality to business and UAT participants as needed.
- Participate in and independently facilitate defect triage meetings, ensuring adherence to established defect management processes.
- Coordinate defect tracking, prioritization, investigation, and resolution with development teams and functional leads.
- Escalate testing risks and issues to Test Leads and management while recommending potential remediation strategies.
- Assist with test closure activities, including lessons learned, defect analysis, execution trends, and final reporting.
- Communicate independently with development teams, business and functional teams, Test Leads, management, and other project stakeholders.
- Manage multiple testing workstreams and competing priorities while maintaining quality and established timelines.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of test planning, test scenario and test case design, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
- Hands‑on experience with manual, functional, integration, regression, system, and User Acceptance Testing processes.
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies, standards, and industry best practices.
- Ability to analyze test results against functional designs, business requirements, and expected system behavior.
- Thorough understanding of the defect lifecycle, including defect identification, documentation, tracking, prioritization, triage, retesting, and closure.
- Experience coordinating defect resolution across multiple development teams and functional stakeholders.
- Hands‑on experience with at least two manual testing/test management tools such as Jira, Jama, Microsoft Test Manager, IBM Rational Quality Manager, or HP ALM.
- Strong understanding of requirements‑to‑test and defect‑to‑test traceability practices.
- Knowledge of test data management practices and experience coordinating test data requirements across multiple teams.
- Experience assessing test environment readiness and identifying environment‑related dependencies or issues.
- Ability to translate business and functional requirements into detailed, executable test scenarios and test cases.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to quickly learn new applications, technologies, processes, and business concepts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Ability to independently facilitate testing and defect‑related discussions with minimal oversight.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
