Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Test & Validation Senior Engineer for Electric Drivetrain at the Caterpillar Technical Center in Mossville, IL.

You will plan and perform lab tests on advanced drivetrain components to support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives. The role focuses on expanding electric drivetrain technology across product lines, with aims of delivering higher work output and lower operating costs while improving efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum or equivalent experience working in an Engineering function.
  • Experience with data analysis tools and data acquisition systems is preferred.
  • Experience in a lab test environment and with electric drive systems or components is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve design or manufacturing issues, ensuring design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.
  • Participate in adopting new technologies and processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs and raise quality.
  • Plan and improve testing procedures and execution to increase reliability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor results, analyze data, and determine component, system, and process capabilities and reliability.
  • Communicate and document results, making recommendations to cross functional teams.

Role Summary:

The Test & Validation Senior Engineer for Electric Drivetrain plans and performs lab testing of advanced drivetrain components and systems. Located at the Caterpillar Technical Center, this role supports new product development programs and continuous product improvement projects. Electric drivetrain development is an exciting job opportunity as Caterpillar expands this technology to new product lines. Future electric drivetrain programs will provide customers with machines that do more work and consume less fuel, while providing lower owning and operating costs.

  • Resolving issues regarding the design or manufacturing. Ensuring design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.

Degree Requirement
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum or equivalent experience working in an Engineering function.

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Extensive knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Technical Excellence: Extensive knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Project Management: Extensive knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Product Testing: Extensive knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
  • Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.
Top candidates will have:
  • Experience with data analysis tools

  • Experience with electric drive systems and/or components

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
