Job summary

Spectrum Control, Inc. is seeking a Test Technician II to inspect, test and troubleshoot filters, hybrids, VCOs and IMAs. You will use precision measuring instruments, interpret schematics, and assist engineers with test equipment and process validations.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma, associate degree or equivalent.
  • Microelectronics experience required.
  • 1–3 years in a related field.
  • Electrical engineering or technology background or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of test equipment like network and spectrum analyzers, signal generators, etc.
  • Ability to read technical schematics, blueprints and electrical drawings.
  • Basic math in all units, including whole numbers, fractions and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, measure and test products using electronic measuring equipment and microscope.
  • Interpret test schedules, work orders and schematics to determine testing procedures and equipment.
  • Connect and tune units using test equipment (VOM, power supply, signal generator, etc.).
  • Perform final acceptance testing per customer specs.
  • Assist engineers with projects by building or procuring test equipment and validating processes.
  • Promote Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement in Manufacturing.
  • Record defects and coordinate repairs with assembly.

Job Summary

A Test Technician II examines and tests filters, hybrids, VCO’s and IMA’s for conformance with dimensional and performance specifications, using precision measuring instruments. This includes troubleshooting products, equipment and process issues, performing acceptance testing, documenting fixtures, equipment maintenance, and updating process documentation. The Technician will also assist engineers with projects through building or procuring test equipment, performing testing and process validations. The candidate will also work closely with engineering and operations to support and improve manufacturing processes.

Essential Job Functions
  • Inspect, measure and test products using electronic measuring equipment and microscope.
  • Interpret test schedule, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams and schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used.
  • Connect and tune units using test equipment such as: VOM, power supply, signal generator, frequency meter, network analyzer, spectrum analyzer and environmental chamber.
  • Performs Final acceptance testing in accordance with customer specifications.
  • Inspect products and processes for flaws and identifies areas of improvement
  • Assist in failure analysis, troubleshooting, rework/repair of non-conforming manufactured product to determine root cause.
  • Analyze test results using engineering specifications and calculator
  • Promote and support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activities in Manufacturing.
  • Assist production with troubleshooting.
  • Record defects and return unit to assembly department for repair.
  • Assist in training other technicians.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma, associate degree or Equivalent
  • Microelectronics Experience
  • Experience Years: 1-3 years in a related field
  • Experience Type: Electrical Engineering or Technology OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of test equipment like Network analyzers, Spectrum analyzers, signal generators, etc.
  • Ability to read technical schematics, blueprints and electrical drawings.
  • Able to do basic math in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
