Job description

POSITION PURPOSE

The Test Tank Operator is a member of the coil manufacturing team responsible for testing a variety of coil units safely by following standard work procedures. The operator works as part of the larger plant assembly team and may flex to different departments or workstations based on volume. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Leak testing coils using nitrogen under water.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Read and interpret blueprints and dimensional drawings.
  • Attach leak test fittings (NPT, Sweat, Grooved).
  • Perform leak tests on coils using nitrogen under water.
  • Repair braze joints with oxy-fuel torches (single- and dual-tip).
  • Clean workpiece joints as directed.
  • Examine parts and re-braze defective joints.
  • Apply safety labels to products as required.
  • Select appropriate torch tip, flux, and brazing alloy based on data charts or work orders.
  • Use measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, protractors, tape measures) confidently.
  • Safely operate JIB cranes for lifting, moving, and positioning components.
  • Apply basic math skills.
  • Assemble mechanical support assemblies following standard work, ensuring safety and quality.
  • Meet daily production goals.
  • Assist with replenishing and organizing the work area.
  • Follow all safety protocols regarding tools and PPE.
  • Maintain and support 5S practices in the department.
  • Actively develop skills to uphold high-quality standards.
  • Flex to other areas as needed, demonstrating teamwork and commitment to team success.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the supervisor.
  • Complete any additional duties as assigned.
Experience

Minimum of six (6) months related experience in brazing, oxy-fuel torch use, and JIB crane operation.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The physical demands include standing and walking up to 50% of the time. The environment resembles a normal construction site with hazards typical of HVAC and rotating equipment. Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. is required. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
