Job summary

Red Cedar Solutions is seeking a Safety Engineer to support the Johnson Space Center under the Center Safety and Fire Operations contract. The role focuses on hazard recognition, evaluation and control, with duties spanning readiness reviews and safety recommendations.

The ideal candidate has engineering or safety credentials, experience with OSHA/NFPA standards and strong written and verbal communication. The position requires working at JSC facilities and coordinating with regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, technology or industrial hygiene.
• Bachelor’s degree in any engineering field and one year of professional safety engineering experience.
• Associate degree in safety or fire protection with ten years of safety engineering related experience.
• Proficient in OSHA & NFPA standards and publications, risk management and system safety techniques.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal/external customers and regulators.
• Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform hazard recognition, evaluation and control activities for CSFO contract at JSC.
• Represent JSC Safety & Test Operations in Test Readiness Reviews for hardware and human testing.
• Prepare and present safety recommendations to the Safety & Test Operations Division.
• Review test documentation and monitor select test operations to support JSC programs.
• Investigate mishaps and close calls and support related actions.
• Develop and review facility and job hazard analyses.
• Develop JSC safety and health communications and educational materials.
• Ensure test facilities, test beds and operations meet applicable standards and codes.
• Support JSC and company Voluntary Protection Program activities and initiatives.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
