SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Test and Repair Technician Lead (RMA), you will be responsible for evaluating and repairing customer returns of RF (Radio Frequency) system hardware and for leading and managing the day-to-day RMA (Return Material Authorization) test and repair operation. This includes the debugging, testing, and repairing of defective customer returns to our facility in Fremont, CA. You will maintain expertise in testing and diagnosing issues to ensure (a) repaired products shipped back to customers meet internal and customer functional/quality requirements and (b) the root cause of the repaired defect is identified and raised to operations and/or engineering. This position will adhere to the ISO 9000 quality standard. This is a 100% on-site role.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

  • Manage customer returns through the end-to-end RMA repair process to ensure every repaired unit meets performance and high-quality requirements.
  • Evaluate customer returns of failed/faulty RF products by performing failure replication/debug on RF-based systems using test RF testing equipment.
  • Document evaluation results, including any issues encountered and the actions/repairs taken to resolve them.
  • Repair failed/faulty units, including identifying components required for repair and replacing faulty components or creating routing through assembly or outside suppliers.
  • Manage outside repair service centers and coordinate the communication and movement of material to ensure repairs are done at high quality and on schedule.
  • Perform self-inspection to ensure the functionality and reliability of the repaired systems and components.
  • Complete required process documentation including Agile RMA tickets.
  • Estimate the labor and materials required for the scope of repair or upgrade of RMA products.
  • Write and update work instructions and other documents.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, providing input to Root Cause Analysis Reports.
  • Summarize and communicate field quality issues to the management team.
  • Communicate concisely verbally and in writing to the management team, presenting monthly and quarterly RMA test and repair metrics.
  • Provide supplemental support to the manufacturing organization by testing and troubleshooting production products when bandwidth allows.
  • Other duties as assigned.
