SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Test and Repair Technician Lead (RMA), you will be responsible for evaluating and repairing customer returns of RF (Radio Frequency) system hardware and for leading and managing the day to day RMA (Return Material Authorization) test and repair operation which includes the debugging, testing and repairing of defective customer returns to our facility in Fremont, CA. This position will adhere to the ISO 9000 quality standard and is a 100% on-site role.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

  • Manage customer returns through end-to-end RMA repair process ensuring every repaired unit meets performance and high quality requirements.
  • Evaluate customer returns of failed/faulty RF product by performing failure replication/debug on RF based systems.
  • Document evaluation results, including any issues encountered and the actions/repairs taken to resolve them.
  • Repair failed/faulty units including identifying required components for repair.
  • Manage outside repair service centers and coordinate communication and movement of material.
  • Perform self-inspection to ensure functionality and reliability of systems and components.
  • Complete required process documentation including Agile RMA ticket updates.
  • Estimate the labor and materials required for repairs.
  • Write and update work instructions and other documents.
  • Work with cross-functional teams providing input to Root Cause Analysis Reports.
  • Communicate field quality issues to management and present monthly and quarterly RMA metrics.
  • Provide supplemental support to the manufacturing organization when bandwidth allows.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

Required Experience

  • Minimum of five years of hands-on proven experience in testing and troubleshooting RF based equipment.
  • Working knowledge of RF, DC, and electronics theory.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing test processes.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Detail oriented, reliable, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure.
  • Flexibility working overtime.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical capabilities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and LabView.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Prior experience in managing RMA returns.
  • Hands-on ability to inspect, test or perform any task.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and B.O.M.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education & Certifications

  • AS Degree in Electrical, RF or related Engineering degrees.

We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As required by law in this state, the quoted pay rate range for this position is $32.00 – $49.00/hour. This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus and offers a variety of benefits, including health benefits, 401K retirement with a company match, and flexible time off.
