Corning Inc. in Texas seeks a Laboratory Technician to perform verification, qualification, and reliability testing of optical telecommunications products in a lab environment.

You will set up fiber optic testing systems, configure samples for environmental and mechanical tests, perform measurements, document progress, and help with data analysis while maintaining safety and organization.

Qualifications

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Perform verification, qualification, and reliability testing of optical telecommunications products in a laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and perform verification of fiber optic testing systems.
• Configure product samples for environmental and mechanical testing.
• Perform optical measurements using manual or automated test systems.
• Program and operate environmental chambers and test equipment.
• Track, document, and report testing progress and results.
• Conduct basic data analysis and draft test reports.
• Assist with failure mode analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
• Assist with equipment calibration and construction of jigs and fixtures.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.

Experience/Education – Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Ability to complete assignments accurately and on schedule.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Hands‑on technical skills using test and measurement equipment.
• Basic understanding of optical test equipment.
• Basic knowledge of fiber optic theory and hardware.
• Previous experience in electronics and/or fiber optics.
• Laboratory experience is highly desirable.
• Self‑motivated with a willingness to learn.

The range for this position is$49,204.00-$67,656.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
