Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Field Engineer in Houston, TX to support pipe testing and turnover activities within the Manufacturing & Technology unit. You will coordinate test plans, manage materials, verify boundaries, and assist turnover teams to ensure quality and safety in line with project specs and schedules.

Candidates should bring a bachelor’s degree and 5–8 years of relevant experience. The role is full-time on-site at Generation Park, Houston, with relocation/office project duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of piping installation, pressure testing, inspection, flushing, reinstatement, and system turnover practices.
• Understanding of ES&H requirements and safe work execution in active pipe testing and construction environments.
• Ability to support test package planning, material readiness, test boundary verification, quantity tracking, field walkdowns, and readiness checks.

Responsibilities

• Promotes and ensures Zero Accident Philosophy in all pipe testing and piping construction activities.
• Supports development, readiness review, and field execution of pipe test packages, short interval plans, and system testing priorities.
• Prepares and reviews piping test documentation, test limits, marked-up drawings, sketches, field instructions, and turnover records.
• Initiates material requisitions, inspection requests, quantity takeoffs, and readiness checks for test blinds, gaskets, temporary materials, tools, permits, and required test equipment.
• Coordinates with engineering, superintendents, craft professionals, and turnover teams to resolve field execution issues and support system turnover.

Project Overview:

Bechtel’s Manufacturing & Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing and building an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) Manufacturing Facility located at Generation Park in Houston, TX. Job Summary:

Assigned to a field engineering organization supporting pipe testing and turnover execution. Responsible for test package planning, hydrostatic and pneumatic test coordination, material and test boundary verification, quantity validation, and support of safe and quality pipe test activities. Supports pipe test superintendents, craft professionals, field engineering, quality, and project teams to ensure testing is executed in accordance with design documents, project specifications, schedule requirements, budget expectations, and system turnover priorities. #LI-ME1

Major Responsibilities:

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of piping installation, pressure testing, inspection, flushing, reinstatement, and system turnover practices.
• Understanding of project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) requirements and safe work execution in active pipe testing and construction environments.
• Ability to support test package planning, material readiness, test boundary verification, quantity tracking, field walkdowns, and readiness checks.
• Familiarity with piping drawings, specifications, codes, standards, pressure test procedures, and construction sequencing on large industrial projects.
• Ability to coordinate with engineering, construction, quality, survey, and other disciplines to resolve issues, maintain progress, and elevate systemic risks early and clearly.
