Position Summary: Responsible for preparing surfaces and applying paint, enamel, varnishes, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and sprayers. Expertise required in mixing and matching pigment, oil, base, and thinner in the right proportion to attain the desired outcome. Maintains a safe work area and may train apprentices in the trade.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Mix and spray industrial type/automotive type paints
  • Apply basic divisible math, ½, 2/3rds, etc., to paint mixing
  • Operate and maintain all job-related tooling and equipment
  • Perform all Safety and Housekeeping duties
  • Other duties as requested, directed, or assigned by the Supervisor

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required as well as the ability to read, write, and speak English in order to understand written and verbal instructions and document completion of work
  • Paint School or Paint Tech Program Certificate required
  • Organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while exhibiting professional behavior
  • Decision making capabilities – ability to make decisions and solve problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all company personnel, vendors, and customers

Work Environment: This position operates in a plant environment of noise, dust, odors, and fumes. Possible exposure to any number of elements, but none present to the extent of being disagreeable. Excessive heat in the summer time.

Physical Demands: This is a full-time position. Must be willing to work overtime as scheduled and required.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Required to wear Safety Shoes and use Safety Glasses and Hearing Protection. Necessary to dress in coveralls, and paint retarded type clothing.
