Test Operations Project Engineer for Gateway GRAIL (ADV000AK0)

Your future duties and responsibilities:

The Test Operations Project Engineer for Gateway GRAIL will:

  1. Be essential to the success of the Gateway Ready Avionics Integration Lab (GRAIL), certifying avionics for all Gateway Program modules returning to the moon.
  2. Support rotating to Second Shift Hours (3 pm-11 pm) during testing operations as needed.
  3. Design and support both new and existing avionics testing hardware.
  4. Coordinate with MCC Scheduling, GRAIL Operations and Maintenance (O&M), Safety Quality and Assurance (QA/QE), and other groups to plan and execute testing activities.
  5. Support Test Readiness Reviews (URR/TRR).
  6. Ensure QA/QE support is scheduled for testing.
  7. Perform pre-task briefs and execute GRAIL validation testing as Test Operations Engineer.
  8. Document test results and archive test procedures.
  9. Contribute to Post Test Reports (PTR).
  10. Develop top-level test procedures in DOORS Next Generation, transforming them into GRAIL test checkout procedures.
  11. Perform ground and flight testing for hardware, with proper documentation.
  12. Utilize Linux workstations and scripts for lab switch layouts.
  13. Support hardware verification, validation, and integration testing.
  14. Understand and support project testing schedules, producing necessary documentation.
  15. Review and track engineering deliverables for project status reporting.
  16. Interpret CAD drawings and system configurations.
  17. Coordinate with vendors on hardware specifications and delivery.
  18. Perform other duties as required.
Required qualifications:

Candidates will be considered at multiple levels based on experience and needs. Typically, a bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5-10 years of related experience is required. Licenses or certifications may be necessary.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or IT from an accredited institution.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to work in a team.
  • Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and power systems.
  • Knowledge of lab operations and documentation.
  • Willingness to support Second Shift hours (3 pm-11 pm).

Preferences include knowledge of avionics hardware and NASA avionics experience.
