What We Need:

As the Test Manager for PC Compatibility, you will be a crucial advocate for PC gamers, ensuring our games deliver exceptional performance and stability across a diverse range of hardware configurations. You will manage a team of testers dedicated to PC compatibility and collaborate closely with functional test teams, developers, and other collaborators to identify, analyze, and resolve compatibility issues throughout the game development lifecycle. Furthermore, you will take a lead role in the creation and execution of comprehensive test plans and checklists, ensuring thorough and systematic testing across all supported PC configurations. This includes defining testing scope, methodologies, and success criteria, as well as collaborating with other test teams to integrate PC compatibility testing into their workflows. Your deep understanding of PC hardware, driver ecosystems, and testing methodologies will be essential in guaranteeing a smooth and optimized gaming experience for our PC player base.

What You’ll Do:

PC Compatibility Expertise: Maintain a deep understanding of PC hardware components (CPUs, GPUs, RAM, storage), operating systems, driver ecosystems, and common PC configurations used by gamers.

Test Strategy and Planning:

Develop comprehensive test plans and strategies specifically focused on PC compatibility, considering factors like hardware diversity, driver versions, operating system updates, and game engine requirements.

Define clear test objectives, scope, and priorities in alignment with project goals and timelines.

Collaborate with functional test teams to integrate PC compatibility testing into their test plans and ensure adequate coverage.

Provide guidance and support to functional test teams on PC compatibility testing standard processes and methodologies.

Test Execution and Analysis:

Lead and mentor a team of PC compatibility testers, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure high performance and effective testing.

Supervise the execution of test cases and scenarios, ensuring thorough coverage of performance, stability, driver compatibility, and graphical fidelity across various PC configurations.

Analyze test results, identify trends and patterns in compatibility issues, and collaborate with developers to prioritize and resolve defects.

Performance Optimization:

Work closely with developers to optimize game performance across different PC configurations, focusing on frame rates, stability, and resource utilization.

Identify performance bottlenecks and collaborate with engineers to implement solutions that improve the gaming experience for players with varying hardware.

Driver Support:

Stay informed about the latest driver updates from hardware manufacturers (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) and assess their impact on game compatibility and performance.

Collaborate with developers to ensure game compatibility with a wide range of driver versions and address any driver-related issues.

Proactively identify and assess potential compatibility risks throughout the development lifecycle, working with cross-functional teams to mitigate them and minimize their impact on project delivery.

Anticipate and address emerging challenges related to PC hardware, driver updates, and operating system changes.

Communication and Collaboration:

Cultivate clear and open communication with functional test teams, developers, and other stakeholders, providing regular progress reports, highlighting key findings, and recommending actions for improvement.

Serve as the primary point of contact for PC compatibility-related inquiries and updates, ensuring alignment and collaboration across teams.

What Will Make You A Great Fit:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.

5+ years of experience in PC game testing, with a strong focus on compatibility and performance testing.

Deep understanding of PC hardware components, operating systems, driver ecosystems, and common PC configurations used by gamers.

Experience with performance profiling and optimization techniques.

Solid understanding of game development processes and QA methodologies.

Proficiency with testing tools and technologies, including bug tracking systems, performance monitoring tools, and test automation frameworks.

Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empower and guide a team of testers.

Exceptional problem-solving abilities, analytical skills, and attention to detail.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex technical information to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies.

Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB).

Familiarity with game engines and development tools (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine).

Previous experience in game development or a related field.

Passion for PC gaming and a deep understanding of the PC gaming community.
