Job summary

Hitachi Energy in the United States is seeking a Testing Laboratory Manager to lead the operations of an advanced testing facility where breakers, modules, and critical power system technologies are validated to the highest standards of performance, quality, and safety.

You will mentor engineers and technicians, develop test plans, manage budgets, and ensure a safe, compliant lab environment while partnering with engineering, quality, and product teams to drive innovation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering (related field) is required; advanced degree preferred.
• Seven or more years in a testing laboratory, with at least three in leadership or supervisory roles.
• Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, circuit breakers, protective devices, and testing standards.
• Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation and data acquisition tools including oscilloscopes, power analyzers, LabVIEW, and MATLAB.
• Experience developing testing methodologies, validation processes, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 17025, or similar quality management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily testing laboratory operations, including scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow planning.
• Develop, implement, and maintain test plans, procedures, and methodologies aligned with industry standards and customer requirements.
• Oversee calibration, operation, and maintenance of high-current, high-voltage, and environmental testing equipment.
• Mentor and develop test engineers and technicians to foster technical excellence.
• Analyze test data, interpret results, and communicate findings in detailed reports.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and product teams to validate requirements and support product development.
• Promote a safe lab environment focusing on compliance and operational excellence.
• Manage laboratory budgets, capital equipment purchases, maintenance schedules, and resource planning.

Your Background
