Job summary

FSEC is seeking a field technician to service and verify fire alarm and life-safety systems across multiple sites in Arizona. You will inspect, test, and document equipment to ensure proper operation per safety standards and manufacturer requirements.

Job Summary


Key responsibilities include testing, inspecting, servicing, and documenting fire alarm and Life-safety security devices and systems to ensure they are operating properly and in accordance with applicable safety standards and manufacturer requirements. Other responsibilities include identifying system deficiencies, troubleshooting equipment issues, performing routine maintenance, and recommending necessary repairs or replacements. Maintain accurate inspection and service records, complete required documentation, communicate system conditions and deficiencies to customers or management, and ensure all work is completed safely, professionally, and in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.


RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Please note the essential functions may vary depending on technical knowledge, certification requirements and willingness to excel.



  • Inspect, test, and maintain smoke detectors, heat detectors, pull stations, horns, strobes, modules, and notification devices.

  • Test fire alarm control panels, annunciators, monitoring equipment, and related components.

  • Identify system faults, deficiencies, damaged equipment, and devices requiring repair or replacement.

  • Troubleshoot fire alarm and life-safety systems to determine the cause of alarms, trouble signals, and system failures.

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure equipment remains operational and reliable.

  • Verify proper operation of initiating devices, notification appliances, batteries, power supplies, and communication equipment.

  • Complete inspection, testing, and service reports accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Document deficiencies and communicate required repairs or corrective actions to customers and management.

  • Ensure inspections and testing are performed in accordance with applicable fire codes, safety standards, and manufacturer requirements.

  • Maintain accurate records of testing results, equipment conditions, repairs, and recommendations.

  • Coordinate with customers, building personnel, contractors, and other technicians during inspections and service calls.

  • Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

  • Use testing equipment, hand tools, meters, and other diagnostic equipment safely and properly.

  • Respond to service calls and assist with troubleshooting and corrective maintenance when required.

  • Maintain professional customer service and clearly explain system conditions and recommend corrective actions.

  • Stay current with applicable fire alarm codes, regulations, manufacturer requirements, and industry practices.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Nicet T&I.

  • Knowledge of NFPA, IBC, IFC, IMC, Life Safety 101 Codes.

  • Knowledge of steel systems (commercial work).

  • Knowledge and ability to use and operate required test equipment.

  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.

  • Must be able to obtain a DPS fingerprint clearance card.

  • Capable of performing physical labor to include but not limited to moving equipment and carrying tools weighing up to 70 pounds.

  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 60 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.

  • Excellent communication skills, using precise and respectful terms when dealing with customers and team members.

  • Ability to understand, execute, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test.


Work Locations: Multiple Locations


Hourly Rate: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour


Expected Hours: No less than 40 per week
