Seeking an Electrical/Test Engineer with hands-on experience in control panel design, component selection, electrical schematics, NI LabVIEW development, and NI hardware platforms. This role offers the opportunity to design test systems, develop LabVIEW-based software, support verification and validation, and contribute to advanced aerospace test equipment.
The successful candidate will design electrical control systems, specify data acquisition and control hardware, develop LabVIEW based software for test equipment, participate in budget and schedule estimation, lead equipment verification & validation efforts, and provide support for delivered test equipment within the Mechanical Power Conversion (MPC) division of Collins Aerospace. The test equipment is utilized for production, R&D, and qualification testing of cutting-edge military and commercial aerospace products including fuel pumps, air turbine starters and blowers, engine and air frame gearboxes, and lube and scavenge pumps
The ideal candidate is eager to grow their expertise in aerospace test systems, controls, data acquisition, and LabVIEW while working on production, R&D, and qualification testing.
What You Will Do
- Develop, maintain, and update LabVIEW software in Windows, FPGA, and Real-Time OS environments for manual and automated test equipment and stands.
- Specify and implement appropriate NI cRIO, cDAQ, and PXI hardware solutions
- Utilize LabVIEW coding best practices including well documented, scalable, maintainable, and modular code based on standardized architecture and common design patterns such as QMH and State Machines
- Design electrical control panels, power distribution systems, and electrical circuits for aerospace test equipment.
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics (in AutoCAD Electrical), wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.
- Work on cross-functional teams which include Product Development Engineers, Sustaining Engineers, Program Managers, Quality Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Operations Managers.
- Estimate confidential test equipment proposals including specifications of proprietary hardware or software, equipment design documentation, schedules, and budgets.
- Lead test equipment activities including design, build, assembly, checkout, verification/validation, and commissioning
- Develop performance, maintenance, and calibration requirements for test stands and equipment.
- Participate/lead peer reviews of specifications, designs, and concepts for test equipment, components, and systems.
What You Will Learn
- Gain experience managing projects from conception to completion, including development, planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale test stands and equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of the complete product family, including fuel pumps, oil pumps, air turbine starters, blowers, and gearboxes, with a strong understanding of their functions, and the validation processes.
- Advanced LabVIEW programming skills
Qualifications You Must Have
- Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience
- Experience designing control panels, selecting components, documenting schematics
