Job summary

Jabil's Prince George, VA facility seeks a hands-on technician to support startup manufacturing of large form-factor equipment onsite.

The role covers building operations, onboarding staff, outfitting the facility, and creating process flows and work instructions from scratch, with emphasis on heavy, high-power electronic assemblies and medium/low voltage wiring. Shift: 6AM–2:30PM, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• Ability to present information to managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Windows-based software and Jabil packages.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and read visual aids.

Responsibilities

• Assist Test Engineers when commissioning new test equipment.
• Provide technical assistance to other technicians on the same shift.
• Provide line support to manufacturing for all test processes.
• Ensure timely response to machine-down calls and determine priorities with manufacturing.
• Escalate unresolved issues to Test Engineers and instruct operators on safe use of test equipment.
• Provide daily line issue reports and weekly downtime reports.
• Source spares from cost-effective suppliers.

The product will be large (shipping container size), heavy (50+ tons), and complex. This position will be part of the core factory startup and onboarding team responsible for building the operations and manufacturing staff, fitting out the building, and creating the process flow/work instructions/etc. from the ground up. Skills to include: panel and point to point wire assembly, Medium Voltage, Low Voltage, and High Power Electronic assemblies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides input for colleague’s performance appraisals
• Assists Test Engineers when commissioning new test equipment.
• Provides technical assistance to other technicians on the same shift.
• Provides line support to manufacturing for all test processes.
• Ensures “machine down” calls are responded to in a timely manner.
• Liaises with manufacturing to determine repair priorities.
• Ensures adequate spares are available for all allocated equipment.
• Ensures Preventative Maintenance is carried out at specified intervals on all allocated equipment.
• Liaises with manufacturing to ensure Preventative Maintenance does not impact production schedule.
• Escalates to Test Engineers any unresolved/ongoing issues.
• Instructs operators on safe/effective use of test equipment.
• Provides daily report of all line issues.
• Provides weekly/quarterly downtime reports for allocated equipment.
• Sources spares from the most cost effective supplier.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The hourly pay range for this role is $26.30 - $47.36.
