Test Engineering Specialist – Weekend Shift (Huntsville, AL)

Leidos Defense Systems Electronics Manufacturing seeks a Test Engineering Specialist to support our Electronics Manufacturing Facility on a weekend shift. The role involves testing a variety of electronic hardware—electrical chassis, cables, and electromechanical assemblies—and ensuring quality and reliability for both military and commercial customers.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Test a variety of electronic hardware, including electrical chassis, cables, and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Set up standard or automated test equipment to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototypes or production assemblies.
  • Analyze test results and repair or adjust assemblies according to analysis; recommend corrections and improvements to test procedures to simplify testing and/or assembly processes.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, test engineers, and manufacturing engineers to understand assembly and testing requirements.
Basic Qualifications
  • BS degree with 2–4 years of relevant experience OR MS degree with less than 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with mechanical and electronic assembly and testing, including ICT and functional testing.
  • Experience assembling electromechanical assemblies, some of which are small.
  • Computer skills required for assembly tasks, including proficiency in corporate production control processes, and creating documents and spreadsheets for manufacturing information such as work instructions, parts lists, and inventory reports.
  • Basic experience reading mechanical assembly drawings, electrical schematics, and other manufacturing documentation.
  • Technical knowledge and skills in troubleshooting down to the electronic component level of simple to medium complexity electronic and electromechanical assemblies, using test equipment such as multimeters, power supplies, signal generators, frequency counters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Solid understanding and working knowledge of RF test equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, data error analyzers, and RF generators.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with chemicals used in product assembly, such as potting compounds and adhesives.
  • Experience working under a microscope in a high‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic component handling requirements and ESD procedures.
  • Current or prior certification to IPC/WHMA‑A‑620, IPC‑A‑610, J‑STD‑001, and IPC 7711/7721.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to possess and maintain a Final Secret clearance or meet eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Pay Range

$59,150.00 – $106,925.00
