Job summary

Horan Hiring Solutions, LLC is seeking a Test Engineering Manager to lead test development and production tests for PCBA and electromechanical systems. You will design automated, cost-effective test strategies and ensure reliability and quality on the factory floor.

Responsibilities include mentoring a team of engineers and technicians, developing reusable test equipment, and working with Design, Production, and Quality to apply DFT/DFM principles early in product lifecycles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or highly related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5–8+ years in a PCBA manufacturing/EMS environment with at least 3 years in supervision or management.
• Robust knowledge of electronics manufacturing flows (SMT, through-hole, mixed-technology).
• Familiarity with IPC, ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949 compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural development of standardized, reusable test equipment and automated test environments (ICT, Flying Probe, Functional Testing).
• Mentor, supervise, and expand a team of electrical engineers, test developers, and technicians.
• Oversee diagnostic programs and test automation using LabVIEW, TestStand, C#, or .NET.
• Collaborate with Design, Production Operations, and Quality to promote DFT and DFM early in the lifecycle.
• Analyze PCBA failure trends, debug root causes, and optimize test cycles.

Position Title: Test Engineering Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Test Engineering Manager to lead our test development and production test engineering teams. In this role, you will take ownership of the design, implementation, and optimization of automated, cost-effective test strategies for complex PCBA and electromechanical systems. You will bridge the gap between design requirements and factory floor execution, ensuring the highest standards of product reliability and quality throughput.

Core Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Mentor, supervise, and expand a team of electrical engineers, test developers, and test technicians. Coordinate resource allocation, budgets, and engineering timelines.
• Test Strategy & Design: Lead the architectural development of standardized, reusable test equipment, custom test fixtures, and automated test environments (ICT, Flying Probe, and Functional Testing).
• Software & Diagnostics: Oversee the creation of diagnostic programs and test automation protocols utilizing frameworks such as LabVIEW, TestStand, C#, or .NET.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Design Engineering, Production Operations, and Quality teams to champion Design-for-Test (DFT) and Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) principles early in the product lifecycle.
• Continuous Improvement: Perform PCBA failure trend analysis, debug root-cause failures, and optimize factory test cycles to minimize cycle times and prevent downstream defects.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a highly related technical discipline.
• Experience: Minimum of 5–8+ years of engineering experience within a PCBA manufacturing/EMS environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Technical Skills: Robust knowledge of electronics manufacturing flows (SMT, through-hole, mixed-technology), test instrumentation, boundary-scan, and automated test platforms.
• Compliance: Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IPC, ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949).
