Job summary

RTX, Collins Aerospace, is seeking a Test Engineering Co-op for a full-time, on-site program. You will join an engineering team to develop, test, and qualify aircraft escape systems and components, and set up high-speed camera tests to capture events.

You will work with energetic propulsion devices under staff guidance and help prepare fixtures and test articles per program needs. This is a rigorous mentorship opportunity aligned with aerospace testing.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in a STEM field and enrolled through the internship session.
• Experience in test environments is desirable.
• Exposure to aerospace testing is preferred.

What You Will Do

Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run May/June- December(including the Fall semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fullyengage with this working mentorship opportunity).

As a Test Engineering Co-op at Collins Aerospace, you will be responsible for supporting test setup, execution, and general technical operations across all onsite programs.

• Work as part of an engineering team in developing, testing, and qualifying various aircraft escape systems and components.
• Set up and operate high‑speed cameras (Ametek Phantom and others) to capture test events, including fixed‑position and tracking applications.
• Support safe handling and setup of energetic propulsion devices such as HVAR rocket motors and small explosive initiators under guidance from staff.
• Collaborate with engineers on building, modifying, and preparing test fixtures and test articles based on program requirements.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience in test environments
• Experience with energetic materials or aerospace testing
• Experience with high-speed video systems such as Ametek Phantom or data acquisition systems such as DTS, Dewesoft, etc.
• Experience working on cross-functional teams
• Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
