Description:

MIKEL is seeking an experienced AN/BYG-1 Test Technician to join our high-exposure test team.

The Test Technician will provide hands-on experience with the Navy's AN/BYG-1 Tactical Control System (TCS) to help build the Submarine Combat System for the US Navy. Our team is passionate about delivering the best product to support national security, working closely with the Submarine community to develop solutions for high-stakes missions.

REQUIRED: US Navy Submarine Fire Control or SONAR Technician (FT/STS) experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct subsystem and system-of-systems testing.
  • Work in an Agile environment with engineers to verify deliveries to the Navy.
  • Analyze software to ensure it meets system, functional, and performance requirements.
  • Install test bays and troubleshoot anomalies.
  • Communicate and resolve issues with engineers from various subsystems to determine solutions.

Experience & Skills:

  • Strong US Navy Submarine Fire Control Technician experience.
  • Formal testing experience in a DoD production environment.
  • Proactive collaboration with local and remote test team members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with testing in an Agile development environment.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Knowledge of requirements management and system modeling tools.
  • Understanding of test engineering concepts and principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the SWFTS submarine community.
  • Effective communication skills across peer groups and management.
  • Ability to recognize relevant information and communicate issues clearly.
  • Experience with automated testing and problem-solving.

Location: This is a fully on-site position in Newport, RI (NUWCDIVNPT).

Security clearance: Department of Defense Secret or higher is required at hire. Applicants will undergo a U.S. Government security investigation, and U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of work.
