Job summary

Active Surfaces in Woburn, MA seeks a Test Engineer to measure solar device performance, reliability, and qualification from lab-scale cells to large-area modules. You will build test infrastructure and drive data-driven design decisions, reporting to the Founder & CTO.

The ideal candidate has hands-on testing experience in electrical engineering or materials science, and proficiency with LabVIEW and Python to scale reliability programs in a fast-growing climate-tech startup.

Qualifications

• B.S. with 2+ years of hands-on test engineering experience (internships and academic research count).
• Hands-on test plan development and instrumentation selection experience.
• Familiarity with semiconductor device testing and reliability concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design and build test fixtures and data acquisition systems for lab-scale and large-area modules.
• Plan and execute test campaigns, including acceptance criteria.
• Characterize devices using JV/I-V, EQE/IPCE, EL imaging, and related tests.
• Own reliability testing and qualification per PV module standards.
• Develop test protocols, maintain records, and automate data acquisition.
