Job summary

Stäubli Corporation in Duncan, SC is seeking a Test Engineer R&D to plan, develop, and execute product validation and verification activities ensuring performance, quality, safety, and reliability. This role collaborates closely with R&D, Product Management, Manufacturing, and Quality to support product development and continuous improvements.

The position reports to the FCS R&D Manager and involves flexible (hybrid) work after a 90-day training period, including occasional travel up to 10%.

Job description

The FCS Test Engineer R&D is responsible for planning, developing, and executing product validation and verification activities to ensure products meet performance, quality, safety, and reliability requirements. The role works closely with R&D, Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and other cross-functional teams to support product development, design improvements, and continuous innovation. The Test Engineer contributes to delivering robust and reliable solutions through structured testing, data analysis, and technical problem solving.

Reports to: FCS R&D Manager

Responsibilities and Objectives

• Develop and execute test plans, test procedures, and validation protocols for new and existing products.
• Design, build, and maintain test setups, fixtures, and equipment to support product verification activities.
• Conduct functional, performance, reliability, environmental, and safety testing as required.
• Analyze test data and prepare clear technical reports with conclusions and recommendations.
• Identify product issues, document findings, and support root cause analysis activities.
• Collaborate with R&D engineers throughout the product development cycle to verify design requirements and product performance.
• Support engineering change requests and product improvement initiatives through targeted testing and validation.
• Ensure testing activities comply with applicable standards, regulations, and internal procedures.
• Maintain accurate test records, documentation, and traceability of results.
• Recommend and implement improvements to testing methods, processes, and laboratory capabilities.
• Adheres to all safety, quality and environmental standards

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience in product testing, validation, verification, or engineering laboratory environments.
• Experience supporting product development and new product introduction activities preferred.
• Familiarity with structured problem-solving and root cause analysis methodologies.

Technical Skills & Tools

• Knowledge of engineering test methods and validation processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Experience with data acquisition systems, measurement instruments, and laboratory equipment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Experience with CAD software, programming, automation tools, or laboratory management systems is a plus
• Understanding of applicable safety, quality, and engineering standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with design verification and validation (DV/PV) methodologies.
• Experience with automated test systems and data acquisition software.
• Knowledge of reliability testing and statistical methods.

Physical Requirements

• Periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry objects
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
• Dexterity and accuracy as needed to operate equipment

Work schedule

• Willingness to travel as required both domestically and internationally (up to 10%)
