Job summary

Canoo is seeking a Test Engineer to develop and execute tests for validating vehicle hardware, supporting the company’s EV product line. You will lead test plans, develop NI TestStand scripts, and build LabVIEW-based test rigs, delivering timely reports.

This on-site role in Oklahoma City offers a fast-paced, collaborative environment and opportunities to influence product validation across engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years developing automated test equipment in the NI ecosystem.
  • Experience with automotive standards (ISO 16750, CISPR 25, etc.).
  • Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand.
  • Familiarity with CAN, LIN, Ethernet.
  • Develop NI LabVIEW drivers for hardware functional tests.
  • Experience working with electronic/electric systems.
  • Experienced in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • NI CLD certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in development of detailed DVP&R plans with statistical confidence.
  • Lead scheduling and execution of test plans across test houses.
  • Write detailed test procedures.
  • Develop NI TestStand scripts for automated tests.
  • Design and document test racks with equipment selection.
  • Execute procedures hands-on in the lab and post-process data.
  • Publish test reports to support product development.
  • Update DVPR with dates and links to reports.
  • Identify, log, and track product issues across testing phases.
  • Maintain clear communication with the organization about issues.

Job Purpose

The Test Engineer is responsible for developing and executing tests and equipment to validate that the company’s products satisfy the requirements.

Responsibilities (80% of the Position)
  • Assist in the development of detailed DVP&R plans, including statistical confidence intervals
  • Lead the scheduling and execution of test plans including acquiring quotes and availability at outside test houses
  • Write detailed test procedures
  • Develop NI Test Stand scripts
  • Design and document test racks including equipment selection and harness drawings.
  • Execute test procedures: Hands-on in the lab
  • Post process data and publish test reports in a timely manner, to support the product development cycle
  • Update DVPR with test execution dates and links to reports
  • Ensure all product issues are identified, logged, tracked, and resolved during each testing phase
  • Good communication with the rest of the organization when issues/failures arise
Required Experience
  • Experience with automotive standards (ISO 16750, CISPR 25, etc.)
  • Experience working with National Instruments LabView and Test Stand
  • Technical understanding and familiarity with automotive industry standards that covers environmental, mechanical, electrical aspects of validation
  • Familiarity with CAN, LIN, Ethernet communications
  • Familiarity with NI cDAQ/PXI, VISA, XNET hardware and protocols
  • Develop NI Labview drivers for hardware functional tests
  • Experience working with electronic/electric systems
  • Experienced in troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • 7+ years developing automated test equipment in the NI ecosystem
  • 3+ years developing scripts with NI Test Stand
  • NI CLD certification preferred
  • Personal characteristics.
