Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Washington state is seeking a Test Engineer to design, build, and commission electrical test equipment for the Blue Moon lunar lander program. You will develop DAQ and control systems for testing space-grade fluids and thermal components, and support flight hardware qualification.

This hands-on role requires collaboration with technicians and engineers, strong problem-solving, and dedication to safety in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience with electrical test equipment and instrumentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, architecture, procurement, build, integration, and checkout of EGSE and DAQ systems.
  • Support development and qualification testing of space-grade fluids and thermal components.
  • Create electrical design packages, drawings, wiring layouts, and harnesses.
  • Lead test operations, coordinate technicians, and maintain configurations.
  • Troubleshoot issues and support system checkout and readiness reviews.

You will design/configure data acquisition systems and/or control systems specifically focused for testing space-grade fluids and thermal components. You will support the Lunar Permanence Core Components Test team through development, acceptance, and qualification testing of flight hardware for the space vehicles.This is a hands-on position where you will apply broad multi-disciplinary engineering (electrical/electronic, fluids, thermal, mechanical ) knowledge, skills, and methods to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!Special Mentions:TRAVEL: Expected 10-25% time traveling during test planning and possible travel of 75% during periods of integration and test at multiple offsite locationsRelocation providedInterviews will include a technical assessmentResponsibilities include but are not limited to:Participate in the design, architecture, procurement, build, integration, and checkout of the electrical ground support equipment (EGSE), including data acquisition systems (DAQ), instrumentation, control systems, and wiring.Directly or indirectly support preparation of Thermal and Fluid component tests, which could include development, qualification, acceptance, performance, and environmental testing.Create electrical design packages, drawings of test hardware infrastructure, wiring layouts, harnesses, rack layouts, breakout boxes, power distribution, and control elements.Create and/or review Test Plans, Test Procedures, safety assessments, schematics, and other engineering artifacts.Identify and procure equipment, and coordinate with technicians for the build, assembly, and installation of equipment and harnesses.Support the integration of test articles, EGSE, hardware, operator consoles, and test equipment to verify the requirements and performance of units under test.Troubleshoot issues that arise, support checkout of the systems and solving technical problems.Maintain configuration control of the drawings and the test system configurations.Participate in test readiness reviews, pre- and post-test briefings, and post-test reviews.Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations.Reduce, analyze, and archive test data.Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work, and coordinate with internal customersMinimum Qualifications:B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.3+ years industry or applied experience with electrical test equipment.Experience with data acquisition systems, instrumentation, and/or control systems.Ability to produce and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.Proficiency in the use of standard electronic lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power meters, data acquisition cards, etc).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Excellent organizational skills including prioritization, scheduling, and providing succinct status reports.A strong safety record.Desired Qualifications:3-5 years experience/background with pressurized equipment, thermal systems, cryogenics, or vacuum systems.Experience with NI or Dewesoft products.Experience with control systems for valves, actuators, or rotating machinery.Experience reading P&ID schematics/layout designs.Experience/understands hazardous operations.Experience with inert fluid operations or test.Base Pay Range for:WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
